Mono Print Workshop
This is an introductory workshop where you will learn how to make mono prints using textured materials, stencils and plant material as well as other bits and bobs we have collected.
What is Mono Print?
Mono printing is a form of printmaking that is known as the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques; it is essentially a printed painting. The characteristics of this method is that no two prints are alike.
The beauty of this medium lies in its spontaneity and can be combined with painting, drawing, collage, stencils, hand-painted additions, and a form of tracing.
Mono prints can also be made by altering the type, color, and pressure of the ink used to create different prints by using an etching press to create lovely prints!
What will you be making?
We will show you the tracing technique as mentioned above, which consists of thick ink laid down on a printing plate, paper placed on top and then drawn on, transferring the ink onto the paper. This is a technique which can easily done at home! Then we will let you have a go and experiment with all the materials and stencils we have collected! Or maybe you have collected your own :)
We will have paper and greeting cards to print on, so why not make a lovely set of original self printed greeting cards?
Everything! We will have a large selection of materials to print with, as well as all the tools you will need, just bring your creative self!
But feel free to bring in your own collected materials! Dried flowers, plants and textured paper is very effective in mono print!
